We have the capability to develop and manage on-site (behind-the-meter) biogas facilities. Leveraging our other divisions (such as Optimal Renewable Gas), we have selected high-quality technology partners that offer robust and proven technologies. We ensure that this class-leading technology is suited to the Australian market and oversee its implementation, optimisation, maintenance and other aspects. Through our industry partners, Optimal Group Australia can provide an Energy-as-a-Service funding solution. We deliver a comprehensive and cost-effective solution, which can include a wider scope on energy and engineering.

There are various benefits that your business can derive from our biogas solutions, including enhanced organic waste management and removal, decreased dependence on fossil fuels, cost-effective production of renewable and electrical energy, reduction of scope 1 and 2 emissions, increased stability and security of energy costs, among many others.

Biogas can be produced in two different ways: Covered Anaerobic Lagoons (CALs) – a type of anaerobic lagoon that is covered with a flexible, gas-tight cover, and Continuously Stirred Tank Reactors (CSTRs) – sealed, oxygen-free tanks designed for the anaerobic digestion of organic waste by microorganisms. We can develop both CALs and CSTRs. Our capability allows us to evaluate the best solution for each project.

Generally, the outputs of an on-site biogas facility include biogas (which offsets the use of fossil fuels (natural gas, diesel, coal, or LPG), digestate (compost/fertiliser), carbon credits (e.g., ACCUs), reduction of waste disposal costs and a circular economy generated by the production of biogas.
