Optimal Group is excited to release our latest video showcasing Lynden Aged Care, in Camberwell Victoria. As part of a major redevelopment for the facility, Lynden CEO Anne Turnbull also took the opportunity to invest in power security, providing their residents with reliable power, 365 days a year.
Rather than electing for a standard back up generator, Lynden selected to install a Capstone Microturbine combined heat and power (CHP) system. Unlike a traditional back up power system, the turbines operate 24/7 and generate savings to the facility by simultaneously generating electricity and hot water.
Two C65 Capstone gas turbines installed in a roof top plant room work together to produce up to 130 kW of electrical power, and up to 240 kW of hot water, and can load follow in times of low heating or electrical demand. Working with the grid, they can maximise the savings to Lynden, and in the event of a blackout in the area, the Capstone turbines switch to back up power mode, providing security and peace of mind to staff and residents alike.
As the system is using low emission natural gas at up to 82% efficiency, it also delivers a significant carbon emission reduction.
