Description

The Hopkin’s Correctional Centre is an expansion on the pre-existing Ararat Prison, which bolstered the facility’s capacity to house medium security male inmates and provide them with a new medical facility, visitor centre, recreation centre and education and industrial faculties. This expansion cost 180 million dollars and created an additional 358 medium-security male beds, bringing the total capacity of the prison to 740.

The centre provides accommodation for sentenced and unsentenced prisoners with protection requirements in an open campus environment, combining community-style prison design with the Better Living Model.

We were one of the companies that helped with this expansion by providing seven C65 natural gas-fuelled microturbines that produced up to 445 kW of power, along with 735 kW of heat or up to 550 kW of chilled water, as part of a low-emission, reliable and efficient trigeneration setup.
