Many businesses are currently looking for reliable, clean energy solutions, but unfortunately have a lean capital budget, which is why we developed renting options for our microturbine products. We offer a range of equipment finance solutions such as rentals, leases and hire purchases.
Benefits of Renting Microturbines
These agreements are flexible and can be customised based on each customer’s needs and circumstances. This customisation extends to the rental terms which typically range anywhere from 6 months to 10 years, with options to purchase the microturbine at the end of the contract for a reduced price or for the term to be easily extended.
With most of these rental agreements, all planned and unplanned maintenance, parts and labour are included for the life of the contract, and they come with complete servicing.
These microturbine systems can be suited to customers with or without a local electric grid connection. For businesses without a grid connection, the turbines provide benefits such as reduced maintenance requirements, lower emissions and better fuel flexibility in comparison to reciprocating engines. For customers with a grid connection, they serve as an additional source of on-site power generation, offering cost savings and better reliability.
Case Study: Planetshakers
When Planetshakers (described as a church and ministry for all) were building their modern multi-purpose office and conference venue at Southbank, Victoria, they found that the total power requirement of their facility exceeded local grid capacity. To address this issue, Optimal provided Planetshakers with the solution to lease five C65 microturbines, with heat recovery enabled for domestic hot water and space heating.
This was a solution that suited their predicament, as their capital expenditure would have been lean due to the money spent on construction and renovation. To get the total power they required from the grid they would have had to spend a lot of money upfront on installing new transformers and other network costs. Moreover, this would have only worked if the power was available in the grid for their needs, which wasn’t a certainty due to them being located in a crowded grid-constrained area along with many other businesses that also need a lot of power to operate. There are also very few if any financing options for such upgrades.
Due to their capital expenditure restraints, leasing microturbines made more sense than buying them upfront as well, as they could spend the money to finish the renovations and open the new facility in the manner they wanted.
Hence, with Optimal’s reliable and efficient rental solution, Plantshakers were able to have a successful renovation and commencement of their new facility.
