Description

Nakelo Treasure Island Resort is a well-regarded 4-star establishment located on a private island, offering refurbished traditional bungalows, each featuring a private balcony with a hammock. The resort features six distinct dining outlets, a bar, a three-tiered swimming pool, and a day spa.

Treasure Island Resort is situated within the Mamanuca island group, to the west of Nadi. Access to the resort is facilitated through various transportation options, including meet-and-greet transfers, boat services from Denarau or Vuda Marina, or helicopter transport from Nadi International Airport. All bungalows are conveniently located within 100 feet of the beach.

Since the resort is located on an island with no grid connection, it needs to rely on onsite power generation. Previously it accomplished this using diesel generators, but due to reliability and maintenance issues, it was looking for a new solution. The emissions of the diesel generators were also very high, so they preferred solutions that would also be more environmentally friendly.

This is when Optimal Group approached the resort with a solution to install six C65 microturbines to generate 390 kW of electricity to power the island resort through on-site power generation and replace the diesel generators. These microturbines, due to their efficiency and due to being powered by natural gas rather than diesel, also produced less emissions on top of being more reliable.

Since their commissioning in 2016, the on-site power generation system has operated reliably without reported issues. This transition has enabled the resort to continue providing memorable experiences for tourists and visitors.
