Description
We're excited to share that we're building a microgrid at our Mulgrave head office, in partnership with Delta Electronics, and that the first stage is now completed.
The Delta Electronics All-in-One BESS and two 25 kW DC EV chargers have been installed at our Mulgrave facility. This forms the foundation of a twin-microgrid demonstrator being built in partnership with Delta Electronics, and will be followed by a 99-kW DC PV array, a Capstone C65 microturbine, a fuel cell, additional charging bays, etc.
The system, once commissioned, will allow employees to charge their electric cars for free. It will also support peak shaving, PV self-consumption, load shifting and back-up power for the office, coordinated by the DeltaGRID Energy Management System and capable of operating in both grid-connected and islanded modes.
Beyond the energy and EV charging benefits for our team, the site gives Optimal and Delta a working reference installation on our own doorstep, where customers can see the technology, controls and integration approach operating in a real office building before deploying it at their own sites. It also accelerates our ability to carry out in-house testing and R&D to make our solutions more reliable and develop new products that complement our current microgrid, energy storage and distributed generation offerings.
